Wall Putty Problems in Summer

Problem 1: Putty powder mixture dehydrate too fast

When the putty powder mixture is blended in the bucket, the water evaporates quickly due to the high temperature. It is difficult to construct and loses water quickly after batch scraping.

Reason: The temperature in the construction environment is high, the humidity is low, the ventilation is too strong and direct sunshine, the reaction of composites in putty is accelerated.

Solution: Put prevention first, pay attention to the construction environment, avoid construction during high temperature period and direct sunlight, and control the ventilation intensity of the construction site. Adding cellulose ether HPMC into the putty powder
mixture greatly improves the water retention capacity of the mixed material. It is recommended to brush the interfacial agent or pre-wet the substrate before construction when the base surface appears too dry and absorbs water quickly

Problem 2: The surface bubbles

The putty generate bubbles when the putty is scraped in level or after the scraping.

Reason: The summer temperature is high, and the base layer is so dry that the water in putty accelerates evaporation, resulting
in bubbles.

Solution: When the putty is mixed, it should be fully stirred according to the requirements or formulations and constructed in the
suitable temperature range. If the putty has bubbles when scraping, it can be repeatedly pressed when the surface is dry to eliminate
bubbles.

Problem 3: Dropping powder, delamination

After the construction is completed and dried, the powder is dropped when touched by hand, and there is even a serious peeling between the two putty pieces or between the putty and the bases.

Reason: When the putty is constructed in high temperature, the water evaporates quickly, and there is not enough water for solidify, so
it is easy to take off the powder. The bottom layer of putty is loose and powdery, while the top layer of putty is too hard. And drying too
fast will also cause delamination. In addition, after the external wall putty is washed by rain, the binder is lost, and it is also easy to
delaminate after re-scraping.

Solution: When we construct in high temperature, dry and strong wind weather, it is best to wet the base surface before the putty
construction, meanwhile adding HPMC to the putty powder mixture to enhance the water retention rate of the mixture. It is nec essary to compact the putty mixture and moderately control the drying time during construction.

1. After the interior wall water-resistant putty is coated with the closed primer (sealer), the strength will increase, and generally no additional treatment is required.

2. The exterior wall putty should strictly implement the moisturizing construction, avoid direct sunlight construction, after the surface layer putty is dry, it should be sanded regularly and fully watered more than 2 times.

3. Press polishing putty surface should be scraped again with a thin putty mixture and press polish wall putty timely.

Problem 4: Cracking

The cracks are divided into regular linear cracks, “T-shaped cracks”, reticular cracks, large cracks, irregular short-line cracks, and partly small cracks,etc.

Reason: The single-pass batch is too thick, the surface of the putty is dry and the inner layer is not dry.

Solution: Serious cracking of the putty needs to be shoveled and then re-scraping; When the structure is loose, it should be constructed after the structure is stable.

SUMMARY

Because the summer temperature is high and the wind is large, it is important to improve the water retention of the putty mix. It is recommended to add cellulose ether to meet the water retention requirements.
