RETAINING WALL CONSTRUCT PROCESS AND ITS CHECKING POINTS
Retaining walls –
Are structure used to retain soil, rock or other materials in a vertical condition. Hence they provide a lateral support to vertical slopes of soil that would otherwise collapse into a more natural shape.
Most common materials used for retaining walls are:
2)Steel and plastic interlocking sheets;
3)Reinforced concrete sheets;
4) Precast concrete elements (crib walls and block walls); – Closely spaced in-situ soil-cement piles;
5)Wire-mesh boxes (gabbions);
6)Anchors into the soil or rock mass (soil nailing).
1) HOD D&D to issue approved drawings i.e. layout done with total station, working drawings, cross Section of wall & detail drawings,Study of drawings.
2)Demarcation & line out by surveyor on site with total station.
3)Take the original ground levels.
4)Excavation up to hard strata & dewatering if required.
5)Take the excavated levels for estimation & billing purpose.
6)PCC as a leveling course.
7)RCC retaining wall as per the RCC Consultant drawing approved by HOD D&D. Shuttering for raft slab & pardi.
8)Cutting, binding of reinforcement at the place for raft & pardi. Tie precast covers 50mm & 40mm for raft & pardi respective.
9)Casting of the raft slab in required grade of concrete.
10)Use of tie rod system for shuttering, shuttering for RCC pardi up to 4’0” height at a time with proper supporting from inside & outside by m.s. props at 45°.
11)Casting of pardi in required grade of concrete.
12)Curing.Hacking for expose surface where plaster is required.
13)Double coat sand faced plaster with grooves & design approved by HOD D&D. Curing.
14)Painting as per the project theme.
1)During excavation sprinkle the water to reduce dust and prevent air pollution.
2)G.I. sheet as barricading to reduce noise level of machineries.
Health & Safety:-
1)Use helmet & safety shoes.
2)Before digging check underground utilities like water, gas & electricity etc.
3)Ensure snake bite kit is available in case of emergency.
4)First aid box with medicines available at site.
